I love Snider s work, and this collection of book and literary themed comics is delightful, heartwarming, and entertaining This was such a neat little book for bibliophiles and book hoarders in mind It had an endearing, whimsical style to it that really reminded me of Dr Seuss at times, which all in all made for a pleasant read I will say that only the first half of this book pertains to bookshelves, bookworms, and the like, while the other half focuses much on writing craft and the struggles of writing your own book, which is something I don t relate to as much, so I lost a bit of interest toward the second half of the book Overall though, a cute, fun little book to display on your bookshelf A Look At The Culture And Fanaticism Of Book Lovers, From Beloved New York Times Illustrator Grant Snider It S No Secret, But We Are Judged By Our Bookshelves We Learn To Read At An Early Age, And As We Grow Older We Shed Our Beloved Books For New Ones But Some Of Us Surround Ourselves With Books We Collect Them, Decorate With Them, Are Inspired By Them, And Treat Our Books As Sacred Objects In This Lighthearted Collection Of One And Two Page Comics, Writer Artist Grant Snider Explores Bookishness In All Its Forms, And The Love Of Writing And Reading, Building On The Beloved Literary Comics Featured On His Website, Incidental Comics With A Striking Package Including A Die Cut Cover, I Will Judge You By Your Bookshelf Is The Perfect Gift For Bookworms Of All Ages Yeah, so there are about a half dozen of these comics I want to buy as posters now.Snider s love of books and reading is infectious, and his love of puns and plays on words is right up my alley as well The art here is just the right amount of detail While not every comic hits it out of the park, I laughed out loud at this than I have anything in a while Some of it makes me feel a little bit art snobbish, but I think anyone who comes to Goodreads is going to find a lot to like and to empathize with in Snider s relationships with books and a goodly number with his relationship to writing An unexpected but very pleasant surprise. I ve was familiar with a few of the comics from this book that have been floating around on the internet for a bit, and I was excited to see the comics I hadn t seen were just as witty and wholesome as the rest I was so excited to read this I thought this was going to be full of comics about being a bookworm While there are comics about being a bookworm, there were comics about being a writer So I couldn t relate to a lot of it because I m not a writer.I d say it is 55% writing comics, 45% bookworm comics. It was cute But the last quarter of the book, I just mostly skimmed because it wasn t about being a reader.Honestly, I thought the title and synopsis was misleading. Adorably quirky, hits at the heart of what makes us readers. Whimsically inspirational. Beautiful illustrations that will please every reader Enjoyed every page and panel. OMG yes This is a must have for any booklover, book hoarder, collector and addict Wonderful illustrations, these comics really reflect the love of books. And yes I judge your bookcase p
